Anyways, known in Lawspitch as the 'wendigo', these are giant lycanthropoids about the size of Gigantopithecus that inhabit the temperate forests and rainforests of T'oxaśn. The densest population concentration of these animals is found in the temperate rainforests of Kacin and the subtropical rainforests of Turan, where a different species, Synchisodon macroglossa, prowls the forest floor. Their claws, which are efficient tools in digging up roots and stripping leaves from branches are usually protected by walking on their knuckles, although they do occasionally walk on the flats of their palms as well. They have also been known to knock down trees to more conveniently get at foliage, creating more open woodlands than one might expect where they occur. They can also subsist off of conifer needles.
While they look something like a cross between a gorilla, a koala, and a bear, they behave rather like elephants. Males are usually solitary after sexual maturity, while females live in matriarchal groups. Males go through hormonal cycles not unlike the musth of elephants that are not linked to the reproductive cycles of females, but seem to occur regularly around Eurydice's analogue to the salmon run in which swarms of fish and freshwater cephalopods flood into continental rivers, however these cycles also occur irregularly at other times of year as well.

the Wendigo might be a bit of an inappropriate name. Wendigo are meant to be man killers right? these guys look fairly docile in nature, maybe sasquatch? idk. cool drawing mate
